1. By Benjamin Stevenson (January 30, 2024): Everyone on This Train is a Suspect

As of now, I haven’t read Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone. However, I plan to read Everyone On This Train is a Suspect sometime this year. The story takes place on a train and is about a locked room.

The idea makes me think of one of my favorite Agatha Christie stories, Murder on the Orient Express. It also looks like this book is funny, which means it should be a lot of fun to read.

2. (January 30, 2024) Jenny Holiday’s Canadian Boyfriend

Top 10 Anticipated Reads for January to March 2024

I haven’t read anything by Jenny Holiday yet, but this book sounds like a good place to start. What the book’s blurb says about the meet-cute sounds so weird, and I love it.

It’s been on my list of things to read, and this book might be just what I need to start. Also, this book is about some pretty heavy topics, like grief, panic attacks, and eating problems.

3. Ali Hazelwood’s Bride: Coming on February 6, 2024

Top 10 Anticipated Reads for January to March 2024

At first, I wanted to read this book. I’m going to read it now that I’ve given it some thought. I like Ali Hazelwood, and The Love Hypothesis and Love on the Brain were great books for me.

What does the idea of this book make me feel? I’m not sure, but I’m sure it will be fun to read. Here are my reviews of The Love Hypothesis and Love on the Brain if you’re interested.

4. Amy Lea’s “The Catch” Wednesday, February 13, 2024

So far, I’ve only preordered this one book on this list. There are three books in this series. This is the third one. Two of my favorite books of 2023 were Exes and O’s and Set on You. I hope to read Set on You this month.

What I find most interesting about this book is that it takes place on Canada’s East Coast. The East Coast of Canada is one of the places I really want to see someday. One of my favorite romance tropes is the grumpy/sunshine pair, which is also in this book. Here is my review of Exes and O’s if you’re interested.

5. Jesse Q. Sutanto wrote: Coming on March 26, 2024

I only found out this book was coming out this quarter when I opened Instagram and saw a bunch of posts about books that were about to come out. I loved Dial A for Aunties and Four Aunties and a Wedding so much.

Both books were way too unrealistic and over the top, but they were still a lot of fun. Going on one last trip with my aunts and seeing how this story ends are two things I’m looking forward to.

6. Atomic Habits, written by James Clear

Top 10 Anticipated Reads for January to March 2024

I’m going to read this one again because it is so great. I think this is my favorite book on how to improve yourself—it’s just too good! Yes, I think I’ve read it twice already. It’s really great to read it now because I always learn something new. This book was great. I believe that everyone could gain from reading this book. For a long time, I’ve liked James Clear a lot.

One of my favorite things from him is the 3-2-1 Newsletter. Being 1% better every day is a great goal. I love the idea that small changes made over time will add up to big results. Thinking about systems instead of goals is another thing I love. Setting goals is great, but how do you make plans to help you reach those goals? His plans will be useful.

Some of the things he talks about will probably be things you already do. For example, I put my skincare and hair products next to my toothbrush to remind myself to do them at night. But this book is full of great tips and tricks. Adding the habit you want to start between things you already do or enjoy is my personal best way to do it. I really think you should do it! You can buy it on Amazon or Bookshop.org.

7. The Creative Act, written by Rick Rubin

If you liked Big Magic, you will love this even more. They are a lot alike, but still different enough that you should read both of them. Rick Rubin is the author. He is a record producer who helped start Def Jam Recordings and American Recordings and was co-president of Columbia Records.

His life events are very different from Elizabeth Gilbert’s, but they both learned a lot of the same things. The book is split up into short parts that are easy to read. If you want to read this book more than once, you can because most of the parts are short. I haven’t finished it yet—I read a little every morning—but I love what I’ve read so far.

I loved it so much that I gave it to almost everyone on my Christmas list. There are parts of this book that you will want to read again and again. You can buy it on Amazon or Bookshop.org.

8. Liz Gilbert’s “Big Magic”

You should read this book even if you don’t think of yourself as a “creative person.” That information is so useful for everyone; it’s easy to read quickly, and each time I do, I learn something new.

It was the parts about fear and not letting fear stop you that really hit home for me. And going into your creative work (or your whole life, for that matter) with interest instead of fear or hate. It sounds extreme, but this book will change your life. I love that my friend Becca reads it again every January.

A lot of people on social media do the same thing. If you feel stuck, bored, or like you need help figuring out what to do next, OR if you’re about to start a new job, read this book!!! You can buy it on Amazon or Bookshop.org.

9. How to Master Salt, Fat, Acid, and Heat for Great Cooking

This might seem like an odd addition to all of these books on self-help and creativity, but! I always tell myself I’m going to cook more, and I do! I’ve gotten so much better! This book is great because it walks you through the basics of cooking and how salt, fat, acid, and heat all work together.

Nosrat makes it so easy to understand: learn these four basics, and everything you cook will taste great. This book is really very helpful. You can buy it on Amazon or Bookshop.org.

10. The Third Door by Alex Banayan

I fell in love with this book so much that I couldn’t put it down. What a great read! There are lots of things. To begin, it’s an interesting story about coming of age. The author began writing the book when he was 19 years old.

His dream came true when he hacked The Price is Right the night before finals and won. All by itself, that was pretty cool. That was his goal: to talk to and learn from the world’s most famous people. As he did this, he saw a pattern that he called “The Third Door.”

It’s said that business and life are like a bar. Some people stand in line all night and never get in. Some people, mostly millionaires, walk right in without being asked. What about the rest of us? One more door is there for people who aren’t able to wait all night and don’t come from a wealthy family.

You have to be resourceful and clever to find your way into the third room! He really does talk to some of the most amazing people in the book. He talks to Lady Gaga and Bill Gates. This book is both a great story and an inspiring business book. I loved the story.

It was great that he was friends with Elliott Bisnow, the father of Summit. I laughed, cried, and took notes all at the same time. You should do it! You can buy it on Amazon or Bookshop.org.
