Bowlus Volterra Luxury Trailer
Learn about Bowlus Volterra Luxury Trailer. We will try our best to discuss the Bowlus Volterra Luxury Trailer completely to understand its features.
When we turned the corner, it was there. The Bowlus Volterra called us, the humble us, for a one-night stay in all its polished splendor. It appears as though spending the night in a $310,000 luxury travel trailer was average. We complied nicely and made ourselves comfortable. We quickly excused ourselves to get some lottery tickets while pledging that we won the jackpot. The Bowlus Volterra would be the first thing we would purchase. And we meant it.
The Bowlus Road Chief Volterra travel trailer is entirely electric and combines vintage design with cutting-edge engineering. It has a hydronic heating system, an AeroSolar setup, and an induction cooktop. Starlink high-speed satellite internet, 17 kWh of lithium batteries, a 3,000 W inverter, over-the-air monitoring, a backup camera, and many more features.

The Airstream and most travel trailers lack a front door, but the Bowlus does. The trailer’s front, as opposed to its side, houses the aluminum door, which is a masterpiece in and of itself, replete with a doorknob that looks like one from a house. As a result, the tongue acts as a porch. It is intriguing.

Unlike the typical travel trailer, which is essentially a box on wheels, the Bowlus lacks the sharp, perpendicular corners that allow for easier assembly. It is smooth and curved in all the right places, like an intentionally built airplane fuselage. This is appropriate, given that the original designer, Hawley Bowlus, worked on the famed “Spirit of St. Louis” aircraft.
The Bowls are aerodynamic, like a raindrop dropping to the ground. The original aluminum riveted travel trailer is sleek. The futuristically vintage appearance is impossible to ignore. (Yes, it is a little older than the Airstream.) Speaking of rivets, Bowlus’s aircraft-grade aluminum shell contains nearly 5,000.

Inside and Outside of Bowlus Volterra Luxury Trailer
The inside has an aeroplane-like atmosphere, much as the outside would suggest, although there are no overhead baggage bins. Suppose we’re going by Disneyland experience, as most of us aren’t familiar with submarine interiors. In that case, it makes us think of a submarine combined with the little, above-ceiling vents every few feet.
In any case, you have the impression of being in a tube. From the interior, you can genuinely see how every component must comply with the roundness—for instance, the glass and the wood paneling partake in the curve. Curves are more challenging to work with than straight lines, as even the least artistically talented person can attest.
Again, as if any of us genuinely understand what it’s like to be in a capsized canoe, the tapering rear feels. And it looks like you’re in an upmarket yet upside-down canoe. Instead of scrambling to stay afloat, you’re content and mustering the bravery to get out of the exquisitely carved canoe. After all, this is the bedroom area.
What a difference in Bowlus Volterra Luxury Trailer
Your feet follow your head to the narrow end while your head travels to the wide end. In other words, you climb into bed before turning over to sleep. It’s possible to lean against the curving wall when sleeping, which is uncommon.
In case you were wondering, this somewhat triangular design, consisting of a mix of three mattresses, won’t work with a typical rectangular bed. When it comes to attaching sheets, this configuration must be a pain. Once more, the entire structure curves rather than squares. (However, the inner doors are square because, as is customary with travel trailers, they have ample built-in clearance at the top.)
To provide a real shut-door sleeping experience and block out any nocturnal distractions, the bathroom’s (open) door spans the hallway and serves as both a bedroom and bathroom door. A toilet, shower, and sink are enclosed and are located between the bedroom and living space when the shower door opposite the bathroom door opens.
The Bowlus’s bathroom, which has a portable toilet from which your feet hang into the corridor, is arguably its least impressive feature. We don’t think a regal porcelain mob would be appropriate at all, but an upscale toilet would improve the atmosphere. The shower features teak chairs and flooring and is located across the hall from the restroom. There are two closets with bars for hanging clothing (to prevent fights).
At First Glance Bowlus Volterra Luxury Trailer
The majority of the inside is made up of living quarters and cooking space. There is a table and a couch on either side, with stylish soft-close drawers. We could do nothing except open and close those drawers all day. The space seems connected to nature with two ceiling skylights and big side windows.
And any claustrophobia dispels the sunshine. The kitchen in the front contains a microwave and a small sink on one side and an induction stove and refrigerator on the other. Of course, it’s not the most extensive kitchen, but it feels and looks different from any other kitchen in a travel trailer. The floors are heated, too.
Its weight is a double blow to aerodynamics. The single-axle Bowlus can pull almost anything at 3,250 pounds. The claimed weight is light (although we did not check how much it weighed when loaded.) Despite what the images may suggest, the Bowlus’s relatively small fuselage shouldn’t completely obscure rearward visibility when towing. You know what it’s like to have nothing besides the front of the trailer if you’ve ever pulled a big, tall box.
Full Disclosure
Full disclosure: We didn’t take the Bowlus on a camping trip into the wilderness. We could, however, see that recreating in a Bowlus would be like wearing your snow-white wedding dress in the muddy woods and expecting it to stay clean after only a few relaxing hours in its luxurious belly and not going to occur.
Eventually, You’ll run into the dirt and have to let go of the idea of perfection. You’ll have to put in some effort to make it great again. Both inside and exterior. If you use it at all—particularly if you bring your dog along, which Bowlus promotes, but we can’t imagine.
For instance, even tiny droplets from washing your hands can leave water stains on stainless steel and aluminum surfaces. Smudges will leave dirty hands. You’ll need to walk carefully and methodically to avoid damaging the walls. And floor with swinging bags and flailing body parts, as you would in any confined space.
The interior of the Bowlus would benefit from routine cleaning (after all, stumbling and falling would be bad for the Bowlus and the body), sparing packing (there isn’t an overabundance of storage. Especially considering there is no overhead storage), and a healthy dose of respect (it’s like being in a fancy house), among other things. If you get what we mean, it could be a good idea to get outside after the first glass of red wine.
Complex but fits Well
If you have an aluminum shell, avoid parking under sentimental trees. Bowlus provides owners with instructions on maintaining the Bowlus’s eye-catching shine. But in our opinion, if you can afford a Bowlus Volterra. You can afford to have it polished, along with its 5,000 rivets regularly.
Something suddenly came to mind that perfectly fulfilled all of my musings as I peered at the interior of the Bowlus, alone in my thoughts in the quiet of the morning, trying to fathom who would purchase this and whether it was practical, worthwhile, and whether you’d go camping, etc.
I came up with the idea before discovering the same language on the Bowlus website. This was a piece of art; therefore, what I was doing. Simply gazing at its contours and hues was precisely what I should have done. The Bowlus was designed to see, down to the engraved signage and La Cumbre interior color scheme.
There are no correct or incorrect responses, making the specific practicalities of how one decides to use it irrelevant. Like any great work, there is freedom for interpretation. And originality and the option to either rigorously adhere to the guidelines or bend them.

Findings about Bowlus Volterra Luxury Trailer
Every owner will have a unique, individual relationship with their Bowlus, and all of those relationships are appropriate. One owner may view a travel trailer as an adventure if it can cross the nation and sustain a few dings here and there. Another person would view it as something precious that should be sheltered in climate control and preserved.
Bowlus refused to disclose how many trailers it has sold. Although, as with any high-end item, the number is undoubtedly small. It would be challenging to locate a Bowlus for sale, and you won’t discover one on a dealer lot either since we haven’t seen one. It’s safe to say that you won’t ever see one on a road, at a camp, or anyplace else. You’ll probably only ever interact with one online.
It’s interesting to note that many Bowlus owners purchase them without ever having seen one in person. They are hand-made to order, and Bowlus works closely with the owner to choose from among 56 million different interior color and material combinations.
Owners pay for the experience of bringing the work to life and for the aesthetic craftsmanship. Although it’s a voyage that few people can afford, briefly going on it made me feel like that person for only one night. And I can assure you that I would have been that person if I had indeed won the lottery.
